Have a Day of Fun at These 4 Bessemer Attractions

Summer is here and with it brings the opportunity to head out for some fun adventures. The Bessemer, Alabama, area is home to an array of different attractions that are perfect for a day out with the family or with a group of friends. If you’re looking for something to do, you can have a day of fun at these attractions in and around Bessemer. 

1. Bessemer Hall of History Museum

Bessemer is pretty well known for the Bessemer Hall of History Museum. It’s open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. and has a variety of exhibits for everyone. Relive the history of the area through books, photographs, and other artifacts with special collections that rotate throughout the year. Collections on display include Martin Luther King Jr.’s cell block door, Hitler’s typewriter, and an old boxcar display. Find the museum at 1905 Alabama Ave. 

2. Alabama Adventure & Splash Adventure

A great spot to visit with the family is the Alabama Adventure & Splash Adventure amusement and water park complex. Enjoy some time on amusement rides like the Scrambler, Jump Around, the Yo-Yo, and Tilt-A-Whirl. They also have old-fashioned Teacups, Centi-Speed, and Rampage, which is a wooden roller coaster. At their water park, they have attractions such as Upsurge, the five-story drop on an inner tube for a thrilling ride. They also have a Kahuna Waves wave pool, Warrior Lazy River, and an interactive kid’s area called Salamander Bay. They are located at 4599 Splash Adventure Parkway. 

3. Autobahn Indoor Speedway 

For an exhilarating experience, check out Autobahn Indoor Speedway. Race one of the European-style go-karts around an air-conditioned racing facility on one of these hot summer days. Your safety is covered with helmets, four-point safety harnesses, dual-disc brakes so you can safely experience speeds of up to 50 mph. You do have to be at least 8 years old to drive, so please keep this in mind when planning a family day. It’s a fun activity for a date night, family day out, or even a work team-building activity. This facility is located at 5960 Greenwood Parkway. 

4. Ozan Winery & Vineyard

Wine lovers are sure to enjoy a trip just 30 miles outside of Bessemer for some great wine and spectacular outdoor views. On the weekends, Ozan Winery & Vineyard hosts the Eat Drink Tour where you can enjoy a four-wine flight tasting with a specially paired appetizer. Have one of their wine-inspired lunch options and even take home your keepsake tasting glass. If you want to travel while sipping delicious wine, book a ticket on the Wine & Whiskey Trackside Train where you get the same flight and keepsake offerings plus a sampling of spirits and a cheese plate.
