Bronco Raptor

The Bronco Raptor is here!

This thing is like nothing we have ever seen before! While a lot of people would have preferred the 5.0L V8 in the Bronco Raptor, there is a lot of controversy about whether or not that engine could even fit in the Bronco. Because of that, we are left with the next best option; a 3.0L twin turbocharged V6 engine. Ford has not released the horsepower and the torque numbers yet but they are targeting to deliver more than 400 horsepower. This is a very similar engine to what was found in the Ford Explorer ST which has 400 horsepower and 415lb ft of torque. Also, the Bronco Raptor has a block that is made out of a compacted graphite iron. This is the same material that Ford uses to make the block that the 6.7L diesel found in the SuperDuty has so it’s extremely strong but it also cuts a lot of weight.

The suspension is a completely unique system that allows for highspeed off-roading and better articulation. Ford is calling this new system the HOSS 4.0. It also has a set of Fox 3.1 live dampers that gives you 13in of wheel travel in the front and 14in of travel in the rear. This upgraded suspension system also increases the overall width of the Bronco by 10in. This thing is huge! 86.9in wide!

A good suspension system is completely useless if you don’t have a way of putting that power to the ground. Because of that, Ford is equipping the Bronco Raptor with a set of 37in BFG A/T KO2 tires. These are wrapped around a set of Raptor specific 17×8.5in wheels. This combination gives you a good ride quality on and off-road.

The Bronco Raptor has been reinforced where it matters. It has an upgraded fully boxed frame with upgraded shock mounts that are designed to take the abuse you may throw at it. In addition to that, Ford has reinforced the B and C pillars to make sure that the chassis is as stiff as possible. Speaking of reinforced, the Bronco Raptor has an upgraded dana 50 solid rear axle out back and a dana 44 front axle. Most importantly, it has an updated electric power steering rack that is inspired by the F-150 Raptor. There are large diameter inner and outer tie rod ends and all of the upgrades together allow for towing up to 4,500lbs which is 1,000lbs over the normal 6th generation Bronco.

For the exterior or the Bronco Raptor we see massive, oversized fender flares and a front grille with the Ford emblem which is similar to the F-150 Raptor. The hood is upgraded with a functional heat extractor and there are functional rock sliders with built-in and removable steps. There is also an upgraded spare tire carrier and extended rear brake lights.

Moving to the interior, the seats and steering wheel have been upgraded for off roading safety. There is also a Raptor specific all digital instrument cluster.
