10 Things I HATE About the Ford GT

You all know that I LOVE my Ford GT but here are 15 things that I hate about it:

1. Extremely hard to get in and out of. It’s very close to the ground and being 6’3, I kind of just have to fold in and pivot to get inside. The good thing is, the steering wheel is adjustable so I can drive it comfortably.

2. GT won’t stay in the low position when parked. The system is hydraulic and it’s forcing it down for better handling. The downside is, the second you cut the motor off, it raises back up.

3. Rocks get caught in the door. When you open the door after going for a long drive, rocks fall out onto the ground.

4. Spoiler has to be in up position when parked. If you leave the wing parked for too long, the natural motion of the wing will rotate the wing forward damaging itself. What you have to do is crank the car, put it in track mode so the wing goes up, take it out of track mode, and turn it back off.

5. Limited production. There’s 1,350 of these ever made. We are very grateful for the opportunity to purchase one because there are very many people who deserve the chance but were not able to.

6. No storage space. This thing was built for racing so there’s basically no storage space.

7. Very short driving range. Obviously if you’re buying a supercar then you aren’t concerned about the MPG but it still has worse fuel economy than all the other supercars.

8. Only certain Ford dealers can service it. Even for something as simple as getting an oil change, it must be transported to a certified dealer.

9. Very risky to drive without PPF. If you want to keep it preserved, you must protect it. For example, if a headlamp were to need replacement, it would cost $11,000.

10. Newbies can’t figure out the door. Opening the door is a two-step motion.

11. The seats are awkwardly close. It’s definitely not made for long drives or having passengers in general. You’re going to be shoulder to shoulder.

12. Alcantara on the dashboard holds onto dust/dirt.

13. Huge blind spots but no BLIS. The radar sensors that Ford uses, can’t see through carbon fiber so it is hard to make sure you’re not going over into someone else’s lane on the interstate.

14. No cupholders. Not that there’s any room for them, or that anyone would be eating or drinking in the car, but it is a slight inconvenience.

15. Has to be plugged up to battery tender. The GT has a lithium ion battery and shouldn’t be left for more than 2 days without being plugged up to the tender.
